Lunch and dinner. Michael's used to be a downtown institution, and even though it's in a new building, it has a bit of that old-style feel, complete with live pianist renditions of old pop tunes. They serve lunch and dinner, with classic old-style cuts like prime rib, delmonico and steer butt, plus seafood entrees such as ancho-crusted tilabpia, citrus-grilled mahi mahi over grilled grit cakes, shrimp and grits, seafood risotto, and several other entrees plus burgers and sandwiches. Serving lunch and dinner. Not worth a special trip, but if you're in the area, worth a visit for the steer butt and grilled asparagus. Don't miss the sweet rolls. Its in an old tony romas. Despite that, the atmosphere is very pleaseant and upscale. Very good food, but quite pricey.

My husband and I ate at Michael's at Soho for our 15 anniversary. First off the atmosphere does not render that of an estalishment to go to for an anniversary. I wish the hostess would have mentioned we might want to call the Hoover location since it is more upscale. The kicker is we were set in the bar instead of the restaurant side with over a week notice. Secondly, my husband ordered a 16 oz ribeye which did not meet the standard of the quality of beef they advertize. I brought home the remainder of the steak and trimmed off some of the excess meat and it had 7.2 oz of fat. That is entirely too much fat for a premium cut of meat. I emailed the restaurant with our concerns the next day and after ten days have yet to receive a response. I have ordered and had much better steaks at nice chain restaurants for quiet a lower price.
