Amigo's Mexican Grill

3659 Lorna Road, Hoover (Lorna Brook Village)
682-8090
Casual, inexpensive, child-friendly Mexican restaurant. Clean and attractive atmosphere, game room. Living in Hoover, this is our go-to place for crazy weeknights when we're too busy to cook. Typical Tex-Mex plus some more authentic Mexican dishes. A personal favorite is the tender and wonderfully seasoned half chicken, served with beans, rice, an awesome orange hot sauce on the side, and tortillas to roll everything up in. Mariachi band Sunday nights.

We recently went to Amigo's Mexican Grill. The restaurant has spacious seating. Not cramped like some other Mexican restaurants in town. We were seated immediately. The waitress was very attentive and quick. The food was wonderful. Full of flavor and not bland like some places. I ordered a combination with a spinach enchilada, flauta and a beef burrito. The spinach was fresh and tasty with the enchilada sauce that was served with it. The burrito was also good. The flauta was good but could have used more seasoning. My wife enjoyed her burrito and taco combination with beans as well. Overall this is one of the best Mexican places we have been to over the mountain. I would highly recommend this place. The staff was friendly and responsive and the food was great.( May 200)3

Amigo's Mexican Grill is a pleasant and inexpensive venue for Mexican fare. The service is speedy-gonzalez fast, and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. The addictive cheese dip and reasonably priced margaritas are highly recommended. The restaurant is normally not overly crowded or boisterous (although I have never been on Mariachi-night). Highly recommended for a low-key and "no chances" dinner or lunch.( April 2003)

Since I haven't lived in the Birmingham area for 17 years I was at a loss as to where I could have an authentic Mexican meal in a casual but clean and upbeat setting. Amigos Mexican grill was conveniently located close to the Galleria in an ares of town close to where we were visiting. I found the combination plates for dinner so varied that it was almost difficult to make up my mind. The food was tasty without being too spicy. The waiter even volunteered to teach us a little Spainish along the way which made us feel even more comfortable . The bathrooms were spotless which I believe says alot about how clean other areas of the restaurant are such as food preparation. The prices were very reasonable and the food a good value for the money. After a plane flight and a long drive from Atlanta, it was relaxing to be able to glance up at the big screen t.v in the dining room and laugh at the antics on the screen. A great place for adults and children.

best mexican food in birmingham for the money! Cheap lunches, great food...

Rivals any other mexican restaurant in Hoover, plus I like how they bring green and red salsa with the chips.... It's the little things I guess that will keep you coming back.

After reading a recent review I ventured to Amigo's for dinner. It has been a while since I was last there (I have eaten there probably 12-15 times) because of a diet! The food was very good and the service by a young lady named "Laura" was outstanding. I had the chicken fajita salad with habanero sauce on the side. Really, really good. Also included was a delicious black bean dip, which arrived with the other two salsas and tortillas. A very nice and generous compliment to the chips. I will definitely go back, soon.
