Niki's West

233 Finley Ave. West (just north of downtown, near the Farmer's Market)
Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Although it's billed as "Niki's West Steak & Seafood Restaurant," it's better known -- and nationally recognized -- for its extensive steam table. Frequently honored for its meat-and-three in local newspaper polls. From Gayot.com: "Lemon-pepper catfish, baked Greek chicken and country-fried steak are recommended, and it's hard to miss with the vegetables."  Roadfood.com says, "The theme of Niki's place mat is oceanic, and the baked fish Creole is terrific, but it's vegetables that star." But we go there for a fix of old-style fried shrimp and seafood that reminds us of childhood memories of Panama City Beach.

It's Niki's - it's awesome, every day, every time. You can't beat it.

I'm not a huge fan of the meat n 3 thing... or much southern food in general, but I liked this place pretty good. The blackened fish I had seemed reasonably fresh and was prepared well, and the vegetables weren't overly cooked or heavy.

I live in Huntsville but whenever I can i stop in at Niki's West. Their warm Bananna Pudding is probably one of the best desserts i have ever had! Their collard greens, tomato casserole, butter beans can NOT be beat.

I have recommended the bannana pudding to many friends who have travelled through Bham and everyone says it is one of the best desserts they have ever eaten.

I must be crazy but Niki's is disgusting! The food is just gross. I have not figured out why any sane person thinks this place is so good. It is terrible.
