Occasionally have eaten at this place since it opened. There has been a steady and slow decline. I was quite pleased the first few times I ate here. The atmosphere is nice, the selection, presentation, and taste were all good. The last several times I ate here, there were only about 2-3 seafood items on the menu (1-2 of which were shellfish) and the rest was all other meats (beef, chicken, etc.). Hardly a seafood place. Furthermore, the service was mediocre and food good but not worth the price. Prefer Ocean for consistently good seafood in terms of variety and preparation. "The View" at the "The Club" has shown promise latley in terms of their seafood.

Very disappointed!! Went with 2 other couples, and we were all unhappy. Very small portions, mediocore food and service, and very overpriced. Will NOT be returning.

Just wanted to share a rather, well, the most disappointing dining experience in my entire life. It started with our table. They sat us at a very small table where all the servers constantly bumped our table the entire meal. We were very hungry and inquired about ordering salads but were told that our portions were huge so "there's no need". So we opted for a $15 cheese plate to share that consisted of 4-5 bites of cheese. Our entrees were $30+ for shrimp and grits that was no more than 1/2 cup of grits and 4 very small shrimp. The red snapper was the smallest portion I have ever been served and a terrible tiny piece of grouper in a bowl of lemongrass. YUCK!
We were still so hungry we didn't dare order a $10 dessert so we left for another restaurant.
As if all of this wasn't bad enough, I was double charged. They charged my card for both meals instead of the other couple's card. When I called to speak to the owner she was constantly unavailable.
The server called me back to explain that she could refund the money but only when I gave her the contact info for the other couple. Are you kidding me??!! I explained that they were friends of friends and I didn't have that info. She said she had to have it in order to give my refund. I explained that our dinner was terrible along with the service so they finally refunded the extra charge. The owner has yet to call and apoligize or return any of my calls. I will never eat there again or ever recommend them to my friends when they can go next door to Bottega or Chez Fon Fon where they will actually enjoy their meal with perfect service everytime.

I couldn't agree more with the bad reviews. Way over priced for what you get. There are so many other great places in town to get a great meal that is worth the money.

Went there for anniversary dinner. Pretty poor service, but good food albeit somewhat overpriced. When you are paying that much the food, part of what you expect is excellent service- not so at hot & hot. At one point, I told my waiter that I was trying to decide on a entree, expecting him to give me some feedback about their entrees- he walked away from the table as I was asking him a question.
Don't get me wrong, the food was good. We had the fried green tomatoes for an app- really good. I had the shrimp and grits- which were great- except that I hope they change on little thing- The S&G comes with ham on top of it. They put ham on top and then put it back in the oven to heat. When they do that. all of the fat & grease from the ham renders off and starts to make the S&G more greasy than creamy. Wish they would've have added the ham to the plate right before serving. Then, it would have been perfect. We ordered chocolate souffle for desert- first, it came out undercooked, so they took it back to cook more, then brought back out later- burnt. The waiter didn't acknowledge this at all. We'll likely go back just to try other things on the menu, but with much lower expectations.

I went on a date to Hot and Hot last night and had an excellent meal. We read the reviews on this site before hand and were a somewhat nervous before going. The service was much better than described in the previous reviews, and the waitress was personable. The meal was quite expensive, but we had an appetizer, 2 meals, dessert, and a few drinks so it was expected. The food was absolutely delicious, and I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone looking for a upscale yet comfortable dinner. Although we were the youngest people there by about 20 years (definitely an older crowd
) it was still a good experience.

I am very surprised at the reviews posted above. I went to the Hot and Hot last week, a Friday evening, and had a wonderful time. My wife and I went early so as to catch a movie after dinner. The waitress was very personable and spent a lot time describing the menu to us. We also learned that the Hot and Hot Fish Club, is not a fish club at all. Instead, the name comes from a Fish Club in South Carolina that I think the owner's grandfather was a member of. There is a large framed description of the South Carolina "Hot and Hot Fish Club" posted next to the door, as you walk in. The food was good. My wife and I shared the charcuterie plate that had meats all cured at Hot and Hot. Then, my wife had the wild salmon and I had the pork trio, which is three cuts of organically raised pork. The salmon was delicious and creamy. We will definitely return!!!!
