Wine Merchant Reflections -- and Chance to Win Wine

Neal Rosenthal, one of the world's most knowledgeable wine experts will visit Birmingham Tuesday, June 3, and will be signing copies of his book, "Reflections of a Wine Merchant," at the Alabama Booksmith in Homewood at 4 p.m.

In addition, he's giving away a very fine bottle of Colette Ferret Pouilly Fuissé "Tournant de Pouilly" 2003. This bottle was brought from the Ferret family's vineyard in southern Burgandy that has been producing fine wines since 1760. Rosenthal imports from small estate wineries in France and Italy.

"Reflections of a Wine Merchant is a must for every fine library and also makes a wonderful gift," say the folks at Alabama Booksmith. "With the purchase of each copy, your name will be put in the bowl and Mr. Rosenthal will draw the lucky winner at the signing. You do not have to be present to win."

The book has gotten mixed reviews, but a review in the Washington Post notes, "There is much more to praise than to condemn in Reflections of a Wine Merchant... Most of all, though, this book is the testament of someone who, through a combination of talent, determination and good luck, has been able to spend his working life doing exactly what he wants to do, and doing it well."
