Magic City Brewfest This Weekend

slossG.gifBuy your tickets now for the second annual Magic City Brewfest this weekend at Sloss Furnaces. You can sample some of the world's finest beers and enjoy local music and local food.

More than 200 beers will be offered for sampling, including ones new to Alabama such as Rogue Chipotle, Lazy Magnolia Lighthouse Pale Ale, Firehouse Hefewizen, Dixie Jazz Amber, Emerald Coast Ale, and Dominion Beach House Pilsner.

Some of the restaurants participating include Area 41 Pizza Company, 5 Points Grill, John's City Diner, The J. Clyde, La Paz, and Jim 'N Nick's.

The event runs Saturday 7-11 p.m. and Sunday 3-7 p.m. Buy your tickets online, and beer tasting only is $22; beer and food is $32. You also can get advance tickets onsite at the Sloss Gift Shop with a lower service charge. The price is $30 at the gate for beer-only, $40 for beer and food. You also have the option of buying a general admission ticket at the gate, which will get you in to hear the bands, but you'll have to pay for beer (a limited selection) and food separately. Designated drivers get in free and get free non-alcoholic drinks, including coffee from Primavera Coffee Roasters.

Last year the event was more popular than anticipated and there were long lines for food; this year, organizers say, they've made changes to help prevent that problem.
