Demetri's BBQ is a fantastic place to enjoy a good Southern breakfast. I usually get the eggs, bacon and biscuit, but recently decided to try to their French toast. Demetri's French toast was the most amazing French toast I have ever had. A full order included three generous slices of french bread coated in egg, with a crunchy shell of cinnamon & sugar. The French toast was perfectly cooked - crunchy on the outside and as sweet as a donut on the inside. I am no longer ordering anything else when I pay Demetri's a breakfast visit. (2005)

This Homewood legend consistently serves the best barbecued pork and turkey in the Birmingham area. Demitri's extensive menu should cater to any taste ranging from traditional slow smoked pork, hand made hamburgers, delicious smoked turkey breast, and traditional Greek and southern vegetables. For a treat, try their smoked pork plate, inside sliced meat, with baked beans and french fries. Demitri's baked beans are simmered with a finely minced smattering of barbecued pork for a rich and complex taste, far better than anyone in the area. Vegetable Night (Tuesday) and Greek chicken night (Wednesday)are popular, so come early. For dessert, their homemade chocolate, lemon, and coconut pies are a decadent finish. Demitri's has been my favorite barbecue for years and they never fail to impress. (March 2006)

Don't order the ribs. They're baby back ribs (with two sides, granted) for nine-and-a-half bucks a plate. All four of them

I've had mixed experiences with Demitri's. Some days, they serve delicious food. Some days, however, you get cold fries and onion rings and a look-warm sandwich. Recently, I've had 2 or 3 good visits in a row. However, the last visit had me reeling. I ordered a BBQ sandwich, outside chop - my usual. The meat was literally carbon - black, crunchy and very bitter. I guess next time, I'll order the inside. Despite my bad experiences, I always think of Demitri's when I want BBQ.

Ordered a "chopped beef" sandwich, received some sort of "food service quality" (read:school lunch room, hospital cafeteria) chopped beef... reminded me of a "steak-um".

The beef had never seen the inside of a smoker or any type of grill. Had the texture/flavor of being prepared in a microwave.

Perhaps the worst BBQ ive ever had, really didn't qualify as BBQ in any capacity.

Never a bad experience, probably because I almost always order the same thing. Chopped barbecue chicken sandwhich, that's it...chopped chicken, barbecue sauce, pickle and bread. simple and wonderful. Will return frequently!

Dinner in June 2010...everything was terrible except the waitress. Do not understand how they remain in business. Chopped pork was sliced with no smoke flavor. Sause tastes like vinagar.
